SCOTUS Gun Watch - Week of 1/8/24
The major news last week was that the Supreme Court will weigh in on the application of Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to former President Donald Trump. In the area of firearms law, however, there was not much activity. The Court set oral argument in Cargill – an administrative law challenge to ATF's regulation of bump stock devices – for Wednesday, February 28. This morning the Court issued an orders list denying certiorari in Nichols and Caulkins. The Court has thus far declined to act on 922(g) petitions, including Range and Daniels, and may be holding these petitions pending developments in Rahimi.
