ORDINANCE NO. 10.

    An Ordinance relating to guns, pistols and other weapons.

BE IT ORDAINED By the Mayor and City Council of the City of Lakin.

    SEC. 1. That is shall be unlawful for any person or persons to come inside the corporate limits of this city with any gun, pistol, or weapon of any kind on his person or in his possession or charge. Provided, however, that the marshal or his deputy may permit any person or persons who is in his opinion should be permitted to pass through said city with their guns, pistols or other weapons, so to do.

    SEC. 2. That is shall be unlawful for any person who is not an officer of the law to have in his possession or about his premises any gun, pistol or weapon of any kind, without first having made application to the city marshal and received a permit to carry or keep said gun, pistol or other weapon. Provided, however, that this ordinance shall not apply to any person who is regularly engaged in the business of selling guns, pistols or other weapons in said city.

    SEC. 3. That any gun, pistol or other weapon found in the city limits contrary to Section 1 or 2 of this ordinance may be taken charge of by the marshal of said city and sold as hereinafter provided.

    SEC. 4. Any gun, pistol or weapon of any kind coming into the possession of said marshal as hereinbefore provided shall be advertised within three days after said gun, pistol or other weapon shall have been taken charge of by said marshal, by posting written or printed notices in three of the most public places in said city. The said notices shall describe said gun, pistol or other weapon, and the time and place of sale, said sale to take place thirty days from date of posting said notices. Provided, however, that if the owner or owners of any property advertised for sale under this ordinance shall appear on day of sale and prove to the satisfaction of said marshal that he or they are the owner or owners of said property, it shall be delivered to the proper owner.

    SEC. 5. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the PIONEER DEMOCRAT.
