"New laws of the town of Romney.
An Ordinance to amend the Ordinances against firing explosives.
PASSED 5TH February, 1869.
Be it Ordained by the Councilmen of the Town o f Romney, That no person shall fire a gun, pistol, torpedo, jackson cracker, or in any manner explode any gun-powder or gun-cotton, within the limits of the Town of Romney or within hundred yards of said limits. And any person offending herein shall be fined ono dollar for every offence. - And if any person offending against this ordinance shall fail to pay the fine when demanded by the Marshal, such person may be arrested and taken before any conservator of the peace within the town who, upon his guilt appearing, may bind such person over to keep the peace and be of good behavior; and on his failure to give recognizance and ample security as required by such conservator, he may be committed to prison. And if such recognizance be given any subsequent violation of this ordinance, by such person, shall be adjudged to be a breach of the recognizance."
